Progress being made on new collection of songs - New Tracks on Soundcloud and Reverbnation

Spring 2015 can't come around soon enough. Like the blossoms that spring forth heralding a change in season, I will be releasing my first collection of songs. There is a lot of diversity among the different tracks; each one a stroke of inspiration from a lost memory, an old school jam or some other seemingly random source.

One of my great loves are acid jazz and lounge vibes and this was definitely inspired by all of the great artists in those genres. I only ask that you turn up the volume and groove out!

New Video

Directly from the woodshed is a video featuring a jazz fusion groove reminiscent of something out of the Mike Stern school. I was just messing around with some ideas and wanted to put out a video of straight improvisation. The original video is on my YT page.

Its always good to document things as they happen and I'm glad I recorded the video because I think I captured some good ideas. You be the judge!

After watching this powerful video, I feel compelled to share this good sir's viewpoint. I feel that his perspective on the issue of participating in the political process is spot on. Realistically, casting a ballot really is only one part of the process. I hope not to make anyone feel alienated but guess what, this is a relevant issue for me and I think that anyone can gain some knowledge from this. Keep learning!

Baring it All

In great art there is a need to bare one's soul to the audience. Painters put their hearts onto the canvas, writers put themselves into their words and musicians use their instruments to express the deepest emotions that lie within them.

In my case, I enjoy nothing more than putting it all on the line in performance, however I think I still could use a little work in expressing myself through words and not being afraid to have the world know what I struggle with as it pertains to growing as a person and an artist. Thats important, because I'd like to let people know who I am and allow that connection to make my music more relevant. Not only that, but by sharing my challenges I seek to inspire/inform others in their lives.

So I hope you can gain a better idea of who I am through this blog as I share my experiences and thoughts. I'm not even %100 sure where this thing will go, but I haven't seen an active blog in a while so this is pretty much uncharted territory xD.

P.S. - I'll be sharing a lot through my soundcloud account so I encourage you to follow that as well.

Let's Get Reacquainted

Hey there world, Brian here reporting from my laptop here in Washington, D.C. as the 'man on the street' as it were. As I enjoy my burger, I wanted to start my blog back up and really get serious about sharing with those that enjoy my music and can find some use out of the things I like to talk about.

I want my page here to be a source of humor, inspiration, entertainment and knowledge for you. My posts will range from original music releases to useful pdf files to great links and other content from around the internet. If we've never met, below are a few links where you can find me playing online and my separate artist pages on the web.

Currently I am the saxophonist of Reggie Payne w/ TRIBE Inc. the premiere Modern Fusion band and I encourage  you to check out what we've got going on.

Return to Forever - Vulcan Worlds

Myself and bassist Reginald Payne have been listening to a lot of RTF lately, and I feel as though it will become more evident in our newer compositions. More on that later :P. Here is a 12 minute live version of the group playing their original 'Vulcan Worlds'. Going in!!

New Developments

So much is going on, and I'm super excited about all of these new developments. Firstly, I am the saxophonist in the jazz fusion group Tribe Inc. and we have been fortunate enough to get the opportunity to play at The Enterprise Theatre and Jazz Lounge every Saturday from 9-11pm. We'll be playing 2 sets of originals and more popular tunes as well. You can get a chance to hear some of the songs from our upcoming album 'Road to Destiny' like my compostion 'Trifecta'.

Electronic Press Kit

I have high hopes for the venue and it has a lot of promise in the blossoming U St./Georgia Ave. area of NW DC. Secondly, practicing for this album has been a great experience. I feel a lot of growth in a quick amount of time, but there is still a long way to go. But isn't there always? As I procure more tools I hope to better document the project but this blog should do something to satiate ya. Thanks as always for staying tuned and I hope you continue to do so!
